interventions: I’m Your Puppet

Pull the string and I'll wink at you
I'll do funny things if you want me to

I'm yours to have and hold
Darling, you've got full control of your puppet

Pull another string and I'll kiss your lips
Snap your fingers and I'll turn you some flips

Your every wish is my command
All you gotta do is wiggle your little hand

'Cause I'm your puppet

I'm just a toy, just a funny boy
Makes you laugh when you're blue
I'll be warm or cold, do just what I'm told
I'll do anything for you

'Cause I'm your puppet

Just pull them little strings and I'll sing you a song
Make me do right or you can make me do wrong

Treat me good and I'll do anything
I'm just your puppet, you hold my string

I'm your walking, talking, living, loving puppet
Hangin' on a string, I'll do anything
I'll hold you kiss you and I'll love you
Put me up, put me down
String me up, string me down

Yes darling, I'm your puppet

I’m Your Puppet" a song written by Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham

*Hannah Höch was a German Dada artist. As the sole female member of the German Dada group (George Grosz, Raoul Hausmann, Johannes Bader, Richard Huelsenbeck and John Heartfield), Höch was an early pioneer of photomontage, the format she utilized to voice her criticisms of the Weimar German Government and to champion women’s rights. The image is inspired by parts of the Dadaist puppets/marionettes.
