Wall Street is a street located in the lower Manhattan section of New York City and is the home of the New York Stock Exchange or NYSE. Wall Street has also been the historic headquarters of some of the largest U.S. brokerages and investment banks. Geographically, Wall Street is the center of Manhattan's Financial District. It runs east/west for eight blocks from Broadway to South Street. Symbolically, Wall Street refers to all the banks, hedge funds, and securities traders that drive the stock market and the whole American financial system.
